Music Icon Bobby Caldwell Passes Away at 71

The beloved R&B singer Bobby Caldwell, renowned for his hit single "What You Won't Do for Love" in 1978, and cherished by many for his unforgettable voice and style, sadly passed away on March 14, 2023

Mary Caldwell, the beloved wife of Bobby, sadly announced that he passed away on Tuesday at their home in Great Meadows, New Jersey, after a prolonged illness.

Caldwell released his groovy jazz tune, "What You Won't Do for Love," in September of 1978. This was the first single he brought out after signing a deal with the Miami based record label TK Records.

His song skyrocketed in popularity once he started playing it live, becoming a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 6 on the R&B chart.

Bobby Caldwell and Mayer Hawthorne collaborate on the song "Game Over", and Bobby's soulful singing style sets him apart from the other smooth jazz singers on "Destiny".

He has managed to maintain the same distinctive sound that made his early work stand out.
