Robbie started his career with the television show Play for Today in the year 1979, where he played the role of Jimmie. In the following year, he also appeared in films like Flash Gordon, and Death Watch, followed by the Subway rider where he played the role of crime Detective.

From the year 1979 to 1999, he played diverse roles and appeared in many popular shows and movies such as Mona Lisa (1986), GoldenEye (1995), Message in a Bottle (1999), and many more.

In the year 2001, he became popular worldwide with his character of Rubeus Hagrid in the Film Harry Potter and Philosopher’s Stone, a Fantasy Film on wizarding education, which was directed by Chris Columbus. The movie was based on J.K. Rowling’s 1997 Novel. The movie starred actors like Emma Waston, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and many more.
