Marybeth Byrd is an American singer and songwriter. She is one of the contestants on American Idol’s Season 21, which premiered on ABC on Sunday, Feb. 19. The season is judged by Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.

Who is Marybeth Byrd?

Marybeth Byrd is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter who is originally from Armorel, Arkansas. She is currently attending Arkansas State University fully online. Her passion for music originated in her childhood, utilizing the stage as an outlet to express herself, as well as aiding her in overcoming her stuttering.

Marybeth began singing at a young age and by 11 had already made it to the finals of the Mid-South Fair Jr. Talent Show and the local St. Jude Cable/Radiothon. She then worked for her father’s food truck, Big Byrd’s BBQ.

In 2017, she was titled Miss Greater Jonesboro Outstanding Teen with a focus on vocal talent and a platform of Stranger Safety: Be Smart, Cool and Safe. With her vocal performance, she went on to become second runner-up in the 2017 Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen competition.

Career

In 2019, Marybeth performed “Angel from Montgomery” during the blind audition of The Voice, turning the chairs of all four Voice coaches with an impressive performance.

She entered as Top 8 semi-finalist for NBC’s The Voice along with the help of her coach John Legend and mentors, Usher and Taylor Swift.

Marybeth released several singles on various streaming platforms. As of 2023, she was awarded the Young Artist of the Year from the Arkansas Country Music Awards.

Marybeth has featured in Season 21 of American Idol in 2023.
