Keshub Mahindra was born on the 9th of October 1923 in Shimla, British India. Later he went on to graduate from the esteemed Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, United States. He was an accomplished businessman, philanthropist and social activist who made immense contributions in his lifetime.

Career

Keshub Mahindra began his journey after completing his studies, joining Mahindra & Mahindra in 1947. Under his leadership and guidance, he was appointed as chairman in 1963 and has been a driving force for the organization ever since. Keshub is a distinguished figure in India, highly regarded for his public service. Controversy

In 1984,  Keshub was the non-executive chairman of Union Carbide India Limited when the devastating Bhopal gas tragedy occurred in 1984, claiming the lives of 3,787 people according to the Government of Madhya Pradesh. In June 2010, Mahindra and six other former employees of the Union Carbide subsidiary were each given two-year prison sentences and fined ₹1, 00,000. All of the Indian nationals involved were in their 70s and were released on bail shortly following the sentence.
